The term "jali" (from Hindi/Urdu) refers to a latticed or perforated screen — a design element with origins in Mughal and Indo-Islamic architecture. In modern construction, laser cut jali refers to any decorative perforated metal panel, including geometric, floral, Arabic, abstract and custom pattern screens.
The key difference between laser cut mesh and laser cut jali: mesh has a uniform, repeating structural pattern; jali has a decorative, often complex pattern that may not repeat uniformly. Both are produced by the same CNC fiber laser process from DXF files — the distinction is primarily in the design intent.
