Laser cut mesh panel — CNC perforated metal screen

What Is Laser Cut Mesh?

Laser cut mesh is a metal sheet (typically MS or SS) that has been perforated with a uniform pattern of holes using a CNC fiber laser machine. Unlike woven wire mesh, laser cut mesh is cut from a solid sheet — meaning it retains the structural integrity of the base metal while providing the visual and functional properties of a perforated screen.

Common hole shapes for laser cut mesh include round holes (most common), square holes, hexagonal holes, slot holes and diamond shapes. The hole size, spacing and arrangement are specified in the DXF design file, giving complete control over open area percentage, light transmission and structural rigidity.

Laser cut mesh is used for ventilation grilles, machine guards, speaker grilles, facade screens, safety barriers and decorative architectural panels. Because there are no woven joints or welds, laser cut mesh is stronger and more precise than woven alternatives at the same thickness.

What Is Laser Cut Jali?

A laser cut jali is a decorative perforated screen cut from MS or SS sheet using a CNC fiber laser. The term "jali" (from Hindi/Urdu) refers to a latticed or perforated screen — a design element with origins in Mughal and Indo-Islamic architecture. In modern construction, laser cut jali refers to any decorative perforated metal panel, including geometric, floral, Arabic, abstract and custom pattern screens.

The key difference between laser cut mesh and laser cut jali: mesh has a uniform, repeating structural pattern; jali has a decorative, often complex pattern that may not repeat uniformly. Both are produced by the same CNC fiber laser process from DXF files — the distinction is primarily in the design intent.

Materials for Laser Cut Mesh & Jali

MS Laser Cut Mesh & Jali

  • Thickness: 0.8mm – 10mm
  • Must be powder coated for exterior use
  • Any RAL colour powder coat available
  • Cost-effective for large panels
  • Gates, compound screens, machine guards

SS Laser Cut Mesh & Jali

  • Thickness: 0.8mm – 3mm
  • No coating needed — rust-free
  • Mirror or brushed (satin) finish
  • SS 304 or SS 202 grades
  • Premium interiors, facades, coastal projects

Popular Laser Cut Mesh & Jali Pattern Types

  • Round hole mesh: Most common — uniform circular holes in staggered or square pitch. Specified by hole diameter and pitch.
  • Square hole mesh: Square or rectangular holes. Common for industrial ventilation and machine guards.
  • Slot mesh: Elongated slot holes. Used for ventilation panels and facade louvres.
  • Geometric jali: Diamond, hexagon, triangle or parametric pattern repeats — popular for modern architecture.
  • Floral & vine jali: Organic patterns with curved forms — popular for residential and hospitality interiors.
  • Arabic & Islamic jali: Star, arabesque and calligraphy-inspired patterns — common for religious buildings and premium hospitality.
  • Custom DXF jali: Any pattern drawn in CAD — logos, brand shapes, architectural motifs, fully unique designs.
